Our Europe countdown is at eleven days. I am getting super giddy and nervous and excited. I've been feeding my excitement by brushing up on my French skills and cultural knowledge. I took French for about seven years in high school and college, but of course my conversation skills are now minimal at best. I picked up Harry Potter from the library to get into the flow of the French language;familiar young adult books are the easiest to read in my opinion. I love the little differences between the American and French Harry Potter editions. The French title translates to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's School, Hogwarts is called Poudlard, and "muggles" are called "moldus". Fun huh? All this French immersion has this Francophile ready for une aventure française!

In 18 days, Paul and I will be leaving on a jetplane for London and Paris. I can't stop smiling talking about our plans and reading about the places we'll be visiting. Feel so lucky and so excited!
This weekend, Paul and I drove to Indiana to pick up our new beagle Diego! He's already been making us (asmile and bringing us lots of joy. Check back for more photos tomorrow.
This video has been circling around the interwebs lately, but I thought some of you may haven't seen it yet. It's worth a view - for the reminder to be kind to yourself and to remember that you are a bright shiny beautiful person.
There's nothing like a picture of a puppy to brighten your morning! Especially since it accompanies some exciting news. Paul and I have decided to get a brother for Pedro! More exclamation points!!!!!!
The details aren't finalized yet, but within a few weeks, Pedro will have a beagle brother to keep him company, chase squirrels with, and wrastle with. Unfortunately the new beagle is not a pocket beagle (those things are expensive!), but he will be adorable! Yay for little beagle brothers! Here's what has me smiling today: we put an offer down on this house! What a dream come true!
Believe me? Ok, April Fool's! Even though I love and patiently wait for this holiday, I've been tricked three times already today (thank goodness the Game of Thrones announcement wasn't true! My heart was broken for a few seconds). "In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?"
This made me smile today, hope you enjoy it too! Here are a few things that are making me smile lately: beautiful daffodils that remind me of old friends... a Snoopy bank found at my favorite Milwaukee vintage store... and Paul's new pair of amazingly awesome party pants. Also this French Minnie Mouse video called Le Croissant de Triomphe. I think I'll have to reenact this when we go to Paris in a few months!
What has you smiling today? This Wisconsin news reporter made me smile AND summed up my feelings about this cold weather: "it sucks."
This video is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The first five times I watched it, it also made me cry (tears of joy, not sadness). Hope you enjoy the "world's first live lip-dub proposal."
